One stormy afternoon, Timmy found an old wooden box in his grandma\u2019s attic. On it was a small metal plate that read:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor the one who dares to run.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside were a pair of bright yellow boots with tiny silver streaks. They looked like they were buzzing with energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat if these are magic?\u201d Timmy whispered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He slipped them on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FLASH!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A spark of light shot from the boots, and Timmy suddenly zoomed across the attic so fast he nearly bumped into the wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey ARE magic!\u201d he shouted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside, the rain had stopped, and a glowing blue path appeared on the ground. It twisted around trees, over streams, and up a small hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A voice, soft like a breeze, whispered:
\u201cFollow the trail. Reach the top before sunset.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timmy took a deep breath. Could he do it?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He ran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boots carried him forward, but not always straight. First, he dashed into a maze of tall grass. The glowing path split into two directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One way went left and looked easy.
The other went right and looked bumpy, with fallen logs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timmy remembered something his teacher always said:
\u201cThe easy path is not always the right path.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He chose the harder way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He jumped the logs, ducked branches, and used the boots\u2019 speed to zoom over muddy puddles. When he reached the end, the two paths joined back together\u2014but Timmy was ahead of the glowing trail, like he made the right choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next came a wide river. No bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUh-oh,\u201d Timmy said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when he tapped the boots together, ZAP!<\/em>\u2014a small lightning bridge flickered across the water. He ran carefully, keeping balance while the bridge sizzled under his feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, he reached the hill. The sun was dipping low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timmy sprinted up with all his strength.
The boots hummed.
The wind cheered.
His heart pounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He reached the top just<\/strong> as the last bit of sunlight touched the horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A warm golden beam wrapped around him, and the boots glowed softly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou dared to run,\u201d the whispery voice said. \u201cAnd you chose well. Courage and clever thinking make a true runner.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then\u2014poof!<\/em>\u2014the boots stopped glowing. They looked normal again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Timmy didn\u2019t mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He smiled. He knew the magic was still there\u2026
